Lawn Care Tips
As we head into the summer months, which can be the busiest in buying and selling homes we want to remember that you only get one chance to make a first impression and if you are selling your home that first impression is what your yard and home exterior look like when the potential buyers first drive up!
Here are some timely hints and tips about lawn care:
- - When re-seeding, mow your grass down as low as you safely can. This will give the new seeds less competition to begin growth.
- - Tune up your lawn mower and sharpen the blades. Clean, even cuts always look better.
- - Pull weeds…don’t just spray them.
- - Keep it mowed and edged. A manicured lawn does a lot for curb appeal.
- - Shape your bushes into squares or spheres by trimming. This will appeal to the majority.
- - If your yard looks overgrown, you may have too many bushes and shrubs. Remove or relocate them.
- - Clean up the area at the base of the bushes and hedge rows. Add fresh mulch to the beds.
- - Yellow is generally a bright, cheery color outside. You usually can't go wrong when using it.
- - Clean up flower beds and add some fresh mulch. If you have light colored flowers, you may want to use a dark colored mulch to make the colors “pop”.
- - Decorative borders/Edging. This sets off different areas of your yard and can produce a cleaner, manicured look.
- - Create a centerpiece…a plant bed, a structure or a combination of the two, for a nice visual effect.
- - Place some potted flowers (the same kind as in the yard) on either side of the front door.
- - Hire professional help if needed. Don't neglect this area.
